Not sure what was up with the ajumma's* this week but every time i was grocery shopping (2x at the market and 1x at the Lotte mart) one was causing rucus by screaming. 아주마 1,2 were screaming at the top of her lungs (so i heard her WAY before I saw her). The screaming was almost hysterical so it was hard for me to understand what she was even screaming about. The lady at the Lotte Mart... at first she was just lying on the floor by the sushi counter... then she started screaming and it took 4 store employees to escort her out. Some people muttered that maybe she was drunk (it was 11am...) but I thought that maybe she had mental issues.
Craziness.
*Ajumma/아주마/the more proper 아주머니: The dictionary defines it as aunty... but not the sort that you are related to. I think its closer to "m'ame". For example, at a restaurant when you are ready to place your order you to get the 'servers' attention you say "Ajumma!.." Its how you call a middle aged/married women. There is also a stereotypical style associated with Ajumma's... permed hair, elastic band pants... etc. The male counterpart is Ajussi (아저씨).
