(Some?) Ambulance companies are privately owned in Korea. Apparently, people (sometimes) can hire them if they are in a rush to get somewhere (ex: the airport). There have been news investigations that followed ambulances to check if they truly go to a hospital... some do and some don't. Because of this not many drivers believe that the ambulances are for an emergency and won't move out of the way for them. I guess there is no law that requires them to do it... But seriously, I saw an ambulance trying to make a left turn INTO a hospital and it took ~5 minutes before a car yielded for them.
Sad.

That is sad. How do people get to the hospital otherwise in emergencies then? I thought the whole point of the ambulance was to get somewhere more quickly than, let's say, a cab.
