Friday the 13th Great Teaching Day!!

For today's 3rd graders we talked about the weather. So we went through some vocabulary and a simple question answer exercise. To review the new weather vocab we played a game at the end of class. Here's how I played.

• Split the class into 2 teams
  
• Write the new vocab all over the board (The kids complained that some of the words were closer to the other team so I ended up writing all the words in a single column in the middle to be fair).
  
• Have each team stand equidistant from the board
• Call out a word and the student must run to the board and slap the word and that team gets a point
  
• I used plastic finger pointers because if they used their hands on the chalkboard the words would disappear.

Well.

I'll have to bring earplugs next time. All the kids got really into it. So one kid realized he didn't really know what word was what. So what does he do? He runs to the board and just touches ALL the words since one of them has to be right. I was amused. He gets props for being clever.
