At the IBK Bank (기읍은행) I deal with just one lady, Ms. Kim. She knows me very well because I've seen her quite frequently these past couple of weeks. I can't just let things go... If I get some sort of message when I login to my account I have to find out what it means. Looking up words in the dictionary only gets me so far. Earlier this week I was locked out from checking my account online because I failed to make some sort of 6 digit code. *NOTE*When setting up your internet banking ask if there are any other passwords you have to make.
Here's something else I learned about ATM's... I've only used the IBK ATM associated with the branch that I opened the account however I withdrew some cash on Sunday at a different IBK ATM and there was a 500 won fee. My first guess was that it was because it was a different location... But Ms. Kim explained there is a fee if you use your bank's ATM after 6pm M-F, and after 2pm on weekends. However, if you were to use any other bank atm the same ground rules apply but the fee will be higher. Now that I think about it I've only seen Bank ATM's and no privately owned ATM's...
There are lots of supplemental services... for a small (monthly) fee of course.
1) In lieu of a atm reciept you can insert your bank book when you withdraw money and it will record the transaction on it directly.
2) There are 2 kinds of text messaging services..One will confirms all card purchases. The other confirms. (Many people use this as a safety feature just in case you don't realize you lose your card.)
